We make sensory insoles

Our sensory insoles are the core of the Kinetyx Lab sensor system. Each insole contains a pressure sensor array and a quartet of triaxial motion sensors enclosed between two layers of low hysteresis foam. With the electronics and batteries situated under the medial arch, the insoles replace a traditional sock-liner seamlessly. This allows data to be recorded imperceptibly as the user participates in whatever activity the researcher is studying. With sampling rates up to 200 Hz we’re able to capture pressure and motion data with incredible accuracy. Engineered for lab quality data, they’re designed to live in the real world. The imperceptible form factor makes the insoles perfect for measuring how a person moves in-vivo. 

The insights

Kinetyx Lab directly measures and calculates advanced gait and movement metrics. Unlike most systems, our combination of IMU and pressure sensors show what movement is occurring, and, uniquely, how that movement was created by viewing the forces that generated the movement. Kinetyx Lab will calculate metrics over the entire duration of a recorded session and also applies algorithms to identify specific activities within the session and then break out the appropriate metrics for that activity.

We can measure time, distance, pace, speed, ground contact time, ground contact time symmetry, stride rate, stride length, force, force symmetry, foot strike index, location of peak pressure, and centre of pressure in both anterior-posterior and medial-lateral directions.

The workflow of
Kinetyx Lab

Kinetyx Lab is designed with researchers in mind. It is data collection simplified; the sensory insoles communicate with the iOS app. The iOS app is used to start and stop data collection and also upload session data from the insoles (each with 4Gb of internal memory) to the Kinetyx cloud storage for processing. 

While the sensory insoles are the core of the Kinetyx Lab product, the web portal is where the researcher accesses everything they need. Visualize summary data for a session, download specific sessions, filter by subject, and get the most out of the Kinetyx Lab system. All raw data is available for export and download, as well as summary metrics for each session. 

Regardless of whether the subject is in the lab, or out on the road, Kinetyx Lab is changing the way we monitor movement.
