Aaryn Flynn joins Kinetyx Board of Directors

Calgary, AB, April 8, 2022 — We’re pleased to announce that Aaryn Flynn, CEO of Inflexion Games, has joined the Kinetyx Board of Directors. Aaryn is no stranger to Kinetyx, having spent the better part of a year on the Strategic Advisory Board. Aaryn was previously the general manager at Improbable and BioWare where he developed an incredible collection of games in his +20 year career as a programmer and business leader. For readers that haven’t spent much time gaming in the past 20 years, a roster of games that include Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mass Effect, and Star Wars: The Old Republic is a stunning portfolio that has achieved sales of nearly $1B CAD.

Aaryn’s expertise has been invaluable as Kinetyx explores the application of our sensory insoles to gaming and the metaverse. While we’re not ready to share specifics of what we’re developing, we believe that move-to-play gaming will change the way that people interact with both real and virtual worlds. We’re thrilled with the initial explorations Nathan Nasseri, Director of Metaverse and Gaming, has been leading.

As a game developer, I think of the insoles as a potential breakthrough product for controlling the worlds that we go into virtually. Games have been part of your living room experience, part of your PC game experience, and now part of your mobile phone experience. But we've never had the ability to make gaming part of your movement experience quite like we’ll be able to with the data from a foot strike. And I think that's going to really challenge game designers and open their minds to what's possible when they start to think about taking that information and incorporating that into a game experience.

- Aaryn Flynn, Board of Directors

The unique perspective Aaryn brings to Kinetyx doesn’t stop with gaming. He’s the Chair of the A100, a non-profit organization focused on supporting tech entrepreneurs in Alberta and he brings a passion for movement with a history of running ultramarathons and adventure racing.

“I get most excited with the insoles for the potential to go for a run, enjoy myself on the trails, get some really, really killer insights into my performance and how I can get better, and then seamlessly move those same insoles into a gaming experience. You know, the hardware is perfectly applicable to each. The amount of fidelity and information you get out of these insoles can apply just as much to a fitness experience as it can to something in a game. And I think bridging that is going to be just tremendous. And the ability to go between those two worlds, the real world and the virtual world, the real world and the gaming world is going to be amazing.”

Aaryn and the team at Inflexion Games have been busy preparing for the release of the studio’s first game: Nightingale. Inflexion Games was recently acquired by Tencent, the world’s largest gaming company. The buzz about Nightingale is growing steadily.
